Step Inside
You’ll find our museum in the original station buildings at Kyle of Lochalsh Railway Station. Step inside to discover the intertwined stories of the world famous Kyle Line Railway, Kyle Harbour and local fishing. See archive films, photos, model boats and trains, railway memorabilia and artefacts. See what’s inside.
We warmly welcome families and group visits. We have takeaway refreshments and a gift shop too. We look forward to welcoming you.
Opening times
November – April
Mon – Sat, 11.30 to 13.30 (last entry 13.00)
May – October
Mon – Sat, 11.00 to 15.00 (last entry 14.30)
Note: We are a volunteer-run museum and these times may change at short notice. If you are making a special journey please check our social media for any updates before travelling.

Practical information
Accessibility
Our staff and volunteers are very happy to assist people with access needs. The welcome area, archive room and two main display galleries are wheelchair accessible directly from the station platform. We regret that the corridor displaying some of the model trains is not wheelchair accessible. Please contact us for further details.
Toilets
These are available for rail travellers in the ScotRail ticket office on the station platform. There are also WCs located in the village car park, 5 minutes’ walk away.
Visit times
We recommend allowing 30-45 minutes for a standard visit, or more if you wish to consult the archives.

We sell a carefully selected range of gifts plus tea, coffee, confectionery and savoury snacks. Find out more.
How to find us
In Kyle of Lochalsh follow the signs to the Railway Station. We are located at the end of the station platform.
By Train
There are usually 3 or 4 trains a day between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh, operated by ScotRail.
By Bus
National bus services from major cities are operated by Citylink and local buses by Stagecoach.
By Car
There is a public car park 5 minutes’ walk away in Kyle village. Follow the signs.
